Questions are a healthy part of learning any process. To make best use of a DataDeed, we suggest you consider the following:
Q- Why do I need a DataDeed?
A- The answer is really quite familiar to us all. We have all known or heard of a parent or friend who went out in the morning for a normal day's activity and later that day ended up in a hospital intensive care unit or worse. We all thrive on hope and faith of tomorrows to come, yet none can be guaranteed. We owe it to those we love as well as ourselves to put the important aspects of our life in order. A DataDeed does just that!
Q- What other needs can a DataDeed fulfill?
A- Aside from the obvious value to others you designate, it can act as a credit card registry or store vital medical data. It can provide a safe, external household inventory for use with insurance claims in case of fire, theft or other loss.
The Very Special Contacts/Messages VSCM option can contain uploaded pictures and other data for use in emergencies.
Q- How secure is my DataDeed?
A- Each Member's data is secured in several ways. Data collected at initial registration is fully encrypted when sent to us. Thereafter it is maintained separately from the data entered by the member in his/her DataDeed.
Secure, third party vendors specializing in e-commerce payment processing handle credit card and other payment information separately. As such, member credit card payment data is securely transmitted to the third-party payment vendor.
Actual DataDeed content is maintained in a secure data center with appropriate fire, personnel and electronic security safeguards. The administrative office is monitored 24/7 by security/alarm systems. DataDeed files are regularly backed-up and maintained in more than one secure location to assure recovery in event of loss or damage in one location. Personnel are granted access to member data on a defined "need to know" basis and all computer access is only by multiple password protection. Privacy and confidentiality of Member data are the highest priority in our day-to-day operations.
Q- Once I have created a DataDeed what happens?
A- The answer rests with you. If desired, you can tell your designated VIP's, now or later, that you have created a DataDeed and provide them with instructions on how to contact us when an emergency arises. Instead, perhaps you will wish to show them a copy. If so, just print it out. You also can provide them with the User Name and Password you selected for them. In doing so, they will then be able to access the DataDeed according to your registered instructions, i.e. at any time or only in case of emergency. You are always in control!
One other thing that you control is updating. Once created, be sure to review and update your DataDeed on a regular basis. Outdated information can be as bad as none at all. We suggest updating a minimum of once a year. As long as you maintain your membership, your data is secure and at your command.
